Monet Waterlilies I, Giverny Plein air Study

Monet painted a series of waterlilies from his garden in Giverny  entitled Monet Nymphéas, 1907 or Monet Nymphéas, 1903  (The official French term he used for his Water Lilies series) The Artist's Garden at Giverny has been preserved and artists can receive a pass or used to be able to do so, to paint in the garden  (The specific title of his most famous garden landscapes) Monet small oil on canvas garden.

I painted in this garden at the beginning of my trips to France each year for 7 years straight and then the last trip was 2001.  

I have some of these piece still in my collection which I am putting up for sale as I get them photoed and catalogued.  

These two Giverny oil studies were of Monet's Garden Waterlilies which are preserved and growing as part of the foundation which still tends the garden.  The Monet's garden plein air studies are small impressionist landscape of the garden in Giverny.  

I focused on the reflections of the garden itself with just the waterlilies cutting the reflection.  Each year during my 7 years of painting in France I would start off my journey to find new subject matter and explore various areas by painting in Giverny.  Each year would yeild different works and each year the season would be different and the garden would have changed.  We only capture the moments we have the fortune to see.  

Tones of deep reds to mauve tones of the lilies leaves shaded by the enormous Willow which was struck down some years later.  I was happy to have captured this rare moment of the ever changing evolution of this famous garden in Giverny.  

These paintings are 12x17 image with 1.5"  frames.  Paintings are on archival stretched linen canvas.
